KAREN McDONALD
Sees Children (2+), Teens, and Individual Women
Dr. Karen McDonald received her Ph.D. from Logos University in Jacksonville Florida. She has been in practice since 2001 and specializes in trauma resolution. She is Board Certified in Sexual Abuse recovery and in Domestic Violence through the National Center for Crisis Management. Karen also enjoys working with clients dealing with grief recovery and parent/child relationship problems.
Before entering the counseling arena, Karen spent 25 years working with children as a daycare provider. She has extensive training and experience in the developmental stages of children. She feels it is imperative to understand the physical, cognitive and spiritual stages of development of children in order to best meet their needs. She loves helping parents enjoy their children at all ages and stages.
Additionally, Karen brings to her practice her own childhood experience with domestic violence and sexual abuse. She has a passion for helping others find restoration from abuse. Recovery requires courage and determination to overcome the fears, shame, spiritual confusion, relationship issues and parenting difficulties survivors face. Karen has the wisdom, training, and skills to pass along techniques to those who are ready to change their lives. In 2012 she founded Racheal's Rest, a week-long recovery retreat for survivors of abuse. More information can be found at www.rachealsrest.org.
Karen's beloved husband passed away in 2013. She has two grown daughters and 7 grandchildren. Her interests include spending time with grandchildren, traveling, and being with friends.
She is available to see child clients ages 3 and up, teens, and adults.
